Nord Stream 2 – pressure drop

On one of the Nord Stream 2 pipelines (the pipeline is filled with technical gas), the pressure dropped sharply. An investigation is underway, reports the gas line operator.

The pressure dropped from 300 to 7 bar overnight, the reason is still unknown.

“Tonight the dispatcher at the onshore site Nord Stream 2 registered a sharp drop in pressure in line A,” RIA Novosti quoted the report as saying.

It is noted that the coastal services of Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Russia were immediately notified.

The incident is currently under investigation.

Nord Stream 2 stretches from the coast of Russia across the Baltic Sea to Germany and consists of two strands with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The construction work lasted three years and ended on September 10, 2021. The gas pipeline is fully operational and filled with technical gas.

However, it never worked – initially Germany suspended the certification due to non-compliance with the requirements of EU law and even frozen the project after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine.

EU Countries Plan to Delay Russian Oil Price Cap Amid Divisions

  • The 27 member states need to unanimously agree on sanctions
  • Countries also discussing export restrictions on electronics

European Union nations are struggling to reach an accord on imposing a price cap on Russian oil and will likely push back a deal on the issue until after a broader sanctions package has been agreed.

Cyprus and Hungary are among the countries that have expressed opposition to the oil cap proposal, according to people familiar with the ongoing talks. Sanctions in the EU require unanimity, giving each nation an effective veto.
